Hi there, I am Michael
Career: project manager. A parent. An expatriate residing in San Diego, United States.
A few years back I moved here with my family. What began as a temporary assignment gradually became a new chapter of life living abroad.
How It Started
Moving to United States wasn't part of our long-range plan. Like many expatriate moves, it began with a job opportunity and soon grew into something much larger.
The early days were demanding — unfamiliar systems, new routines, new expectations. Everyday tasks seemed more complicated than they should have.
The Adjustment Period
There was culture shock, doubt, and plenty of learning by doing. Yet gradually routines took shape. We found places that fit us, connected with other families, and began creating something that felt steady.
Why I Built Meadow Cipher Forge
Most information on the web was either corporate relocation guidance or surface-level tourism content. What was missing was an honest, everyday family perspective.
This site aims to bridge that gap — practical guidance grounded in real life in United States.
What This Site Is (And Isn't)
This site IS:
- Practical insights from living in United States
- Centered on family life and everyday realities
- Updated whenever something truly changes
This site ISN'T:
- A tourism authority resource
- Sponsored review platform
- A generic travel blog
Looking Ahead
Our time in United States continues, and so does the learning process. As long as the information is useful, I’ll keep documenting what we discover.
If you have questions about family life in San Diego or anywhere in United States, feel free to reach out.
Cheers,
Michael
